International Women’s Day is observed annually on 8 March to celebrate the social, economic, scientific, and leadership achievements of women worldwide. At Kibong’oto Infectious Disease Hospital (KIDH), this day provides an opportunity to recognize the significant contributions of women in clinical care, laboratory sciences, research, administration, and public health leadership.
Women at KIDH play a critical role in advancing infectious disease diagnosis, tuberculosis and antimicrobial resistance research, patient care, health education, and institutional capacity building. Their expertise strengthens national disease surveillance systems and supports Tanzania’s efforts to improve public health outcomes.
As KIDH continues its transformation toward a National Infectious Disease Institute, we reaffirm our commitment to promoting gender equity, professional development, mentorship, and leadership opportunities for women across all departments.
